Chardonnay DeDee’s Estate (2006) Two carefully chosen clones of Estate Chardonnay grapes grown in a cool hilltop vineyard on a ridgeline just North of the Petaluma Gap, provide the basis for this elegant traditional style wine. The grapes were whole cluster pressed directly to 100% French oak barrels (33% new each year). Primary and malolactic fermentations were conducted with indigenous yeasts and lies stirring during the malolactic phase. Subsequent barrel aging for ten months followed with continuing lies stirring. A single inert gas racking was effected prior to bottling and the wine was bottle aged six months prior to release. This light gold wine has aromas of fresh cut white pineapple, kiwi fruit, and savory spices. The palate leads to entry tastes of distinct pineapple and citrus, with an expanding mid-palate that grows into flavors of kiwi, passion fruit and key lime with great acid/fruit balance. There is far late palate reach. 14.5% alcohol |
